April, you were a Sp4 when I started my military career with the 822nd MP Company at a young 18 yoa. You were the older, wiser fellow soldier that I looked up to and the police officer that I someday hoped to be. You were my idle. I was so honored to be invited to your wedding and even more honored when you asked me to play a special role in your beautiful sons life. I followed in your footsteps to a career in law enforcement and could not be more proud. I will never forget you. I will keep my promise I've made to you so many times in my prayers.
May God bless you my friend.

I still remember our last conversation before you went back on the road that night. You were such a kind and caring person. I will always treasure our little talks and the time we spent together. I have never met a prouder mom. My heart went out to your husband and little boy. You will always be missed. God Bless you, April.

I met April way back when I was a new officer with the Elmhurst Police Dept. I learned from her and other troopers, that the State Police were always nearby ready to help! And she was there for me on several occasions. Our friendship was not only about work, but the sharing of our family life. She carried a picture of her newborn in her wallet and was very proud to show everyone. I thought about April when my first child was born 11 monthes later and understood for myself, just how proud a mother feels! You will never be forgotten. Thank you for your frienship.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traff

I knew April when she was April Rapp stationed as a M.P. at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, In. I was stationed at that base at the smae time, and worked with her until she was assingned as a M.P.I. investigator. April was a credit to the Army, and was as hard working as she was polite. I recall hearing of her passing around 1991, and as others who had been in my unit was shocked, but back then, there was no forum to leave reflections. As the years have passed, and her family has grown, I know that they will always treasure her memory, as will the others that knew her. God Bless.

I didn't know April, but I do know that she is my brothers mom. She died when he was just a baby.

~~~~~The Broken Chain~~~~~
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name.~~In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.~~It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.~~You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.~~Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the Chain will link again.
I will always love you mom.
You always had a smile,
Doing a job full of fear.
You obviously went the extra mile.
You worked hard while you were here.
You always tried to make others happy, it seemed.
You showed love to all your peers.
You were truly part of this team.
While the thanks sometimes lacked,
Through the harsh words and insults,
You never turned your back.
Though all the good you were doing,
God didn’t want you here.
If you wait we will be coming,
But until then, please take care.
I being a woman myself highly look up to women police officers, while I am only 14 I intend to be one myself one day.
I am sorry for your loss, may god bless!
