Capt. John Day is my Great-Great Grandfather. Thank you to everyone who posted a reflection. We will not forget him either. My father, my son and I all bear his middle name, Thomas. Richard T. Gallagher, Jr.

thank you for the oppurtunity to remember captain john day and all the other nopd members who have passed protecting others.
i'll close with a statement first uttered over a 100 yrs ago it's not the way they died that made them heros, it is the way they lived knowing on any day they might be called on to die that others may live.
