To Trooper Elizabeth Cobb and her loved ones:

On this the twenty first anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today. Rest in Peace, Elizabeth. I am praying for solace for your family today and each day of their journey as survivors.

To your Mom, you are in my heart's embrace today. There is no way a parent can ever get over the murder of their beloved child. You have been on this journey a long time.

The circumstances of Elizabeth's murder were shocking. I wish the death penalty verdict had withstood appellate scrutiny. I am glad her murderer was denied parole in 2007, but saddened for you that he has a release date of 2012.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Elizabeth gave to her community and the citizens of Alabama, and for the supreme sacrifice she and her family made on October 11, 1987.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice. It has been almost 20 years since your brutal and untimely murder. You were killed for money by a loved one that you trusted. He was NEVER a Trooper; he was a THUG with a badge. I hope he enjoys a very long, miserable life in prison. May your family take comfort in knowing that you will NEVER be forgotten and will FOREVER be a hero!

Elizabeth is my aunt. I was only 7 years old when she died. I still think of her often and our family still misses her deeply. She was a very beautiful and ambitious woman who will always be our hero.

Unbelieveable. How tragic and truly unfortunate. Even after all these years since your passing, your memory is alive and your sacrifice appreciated. Thank you for your service. May you continue to rest in peace, and may your murderer rot in another place.

~~~Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep~~~
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn’s rain
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds circled in flight
I am the soft star that shines at night
I am the flowers that bloom by day
I am the fragrance of new mown hay
I am each blade of grass that grows
I am the rush of melting snow
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am no there, I did not die…..
Elizabeth: Knew you from the ALANG. Cannot understand why this happened to you. You're with G-d and His angels now. Shalom Aleichem...
I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).
We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty, but to know it was caused by a "loved" one is incomprehensible. To know that it was caused by another trooper....well words cannot describe the atrocity.
I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.
These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.
...Gone, but never Forgotten....
Trooper Cobb, I could not believe the story of how your life ended when I read it on the Alabama State Troopers Associations web site. It grates my nerves every time I think about the fact that he is due for parole here in a few months. Your fellow Troopers and many others (including myself) are writing to keep him behind bars so that he can't harm anyone else. Thank you for the time you served protecting us in Alabama.
