Clarence, On today, the 89th anniversary of your murder, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrfifice for our Country and to the Patrol. You were the first of many BPAs who have died in the line of duty. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Clarence, You were the first; a statistic in the minds of some. But you have paved the way for all of the Agents who have learned what "Honor First" means. We are sad that you died too early and we're proud to call ourselves your brothers and sisters in green. Keep watching ... you'll cut our sign as soon as we cross that Great Silent River. Patrol Agent Frank J. Hawkins U. S. Border Patrol (Ret.) 2006-04-09
You were my grandfather. I am the second daughter of Clarence Thomas Childress. I am very proud of my grandfather and what he endured in the military and my prayers for all military people are with them. Margaret Childress Frank Margaret Childress Frank
