I think about Mr Joe all the time as well. I only knew him for the earlier years of my life but I can remember a kind, warmhearted and playful soul. He had a wonderful family - very close knit and you could tell he loved them very much. Being from a family of law enforcement officers I know what uncertainty they face every day and what kind of courage a man or woman must have to be in that line of work. It's not an easy job- but it is a job for someone with a higher purpose and a strong soul- they are dedicated to protecting their community and the ones they love before they protect themselves. He will always be a hero to me. kg Rarely does a day go by that you do not enter my mind. Know one will ever know how special you were to all of us. Dad talks to you often and looks forward to the day you meet again. For all families that have lost their loved ones in the line of duty, it does get easier but NEVER does the love go away or deminish. As we approach the 20 year mark of your passing it ofter feels like it happened yesterday. Always know you are in our thoughts, prayers and that we are proud to have had you in our lives. Love forever, Kim Kim Hennington Tugwell "The Badge" Investigator David L Bell As one who spent more than 24 years wearing a USMC uniform,I have come to place four USN components ahead of the other USN components - No. 4 Navy Chaplains, No. 3 Seabees, No. 2 SEALs, and No. 1 Navy Corpsmen. Maj M. B. Parlor Heroes and the sacrifices they make are never forgotten. Sgt. Broussard, you are a true hero and you are not forgotten. SPO Although I was never lucky enough to have met you, from what my dear husband has told me, you were one of the better influences in his long police career. Your kindness and decency made an impression on him when he was a young officer and I want to thank you. Mrs. Donald Greene This is one citizen of Baton Rouge that has not, and never will forget. I remember what I was doing the moment they announced this dreaded news. Here is a man simply doing his job who is cut down for no reason by a worthless individual, who by the way gets to live his life to this day. I am angered by this to this day. I did not know Ofc. Broussard personally, but he remains a hero of mine since that terrible afternoon in 1988. Since then, I consider all of you guys heroes. Sadly, it sometimes takes a tragic event like we recently had to remind us of this. Have we all forgotten? I certainly hope not....
REST IN PEACE YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN CPL. D CORTEZ I wish that we had gotten to know each other before all this happened. I never realized there was another "Doc" with the Dept. A former Navy corpsman and a fellow officer salute you for the price you paid. Sgt. Dee Reed I find it sad to see that you only have 1 reflection left for you. Your service to your country during the Vietnam War is apparent in knowing that you were awarded the Navy Cross--although many do not give the respect that Vietnam veterans deserve. Your service to your community is just as apparent in knowing that you gave your life for them--you made the ultimate sacrifice! P.O. The Navy Cross is second only to the Medal of Honor. This man had to do something extradinary to win the Navy Cross! Ret Officer RB Wade
