I'm proud to say my great-grandfather Julius Cummins has been nominated by the Ky. DOC for inclusion on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in D.C., sixty years after the end of his watch. RIP grandfather!

Officer Cummins,
It has taken 60 years, but you are finally being honored. I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Kentucky. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

C.O. Cummins, thank you fo ryour service and dedication. It saddens me to see that your own Department has apparantly forgotten your ultimate sacrifice.

Rest in peace.

In memory of my great grandfather, C.O. Julius R Cummins, served at Kentucky State Penitentiary 1945-1949. I see his name on a memorial at the KSP front gate every day I report for duty. His service and memory are an inspiration to me.
