Special Officer Pipes, you took a job to help protect one of America's most vital assets, it's railroads. A strike is a terrible thing for a number of reasons, no matter which side of the issues you're on. When tensions are high there's no telling what might result. Sadly in this case it resulted in injuries to some and death to you. You may have just started the job but you were knowingly walking into a very volatile situation and were willing to do the job. You are a hero.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

Ptl. Jim Leahy, Jr.
