I was working for BSO Fire-Rescue that day, and I'll never forget that all-call on the radio...

You won't ever be forgotten. Rest easy...

Alex,

It's now been some time since you've been taken from us and the hurt and pain still doesn't go away. I am constantly reminded of this lost and to know that we can't hang out anymore hurts me so much. I miss you a lot. I know one day we'll meet up again.

I only got to know you for such a short time but you have left a lasting impression. Still miss you man, not a day goes by that I don't think about you. You were taken way too early. I wish I could just go back in time and change things so you could still be here with us. Godspeed, rest in peace brother. I know you are watching over us. May your family and friends which I know still can not believe you're gone, have strength to get through. Love you and miss you.

I am shocked and terribly saddened about my friend passing. I knew Alex through a detail that he worked from time to time last year, at the time I was a security guard. I admired him as a police officer and a person, We would talk about everything from cars to cop stuff,I even got to see him in action once. I am now a police officer and I have more of an understanding of what he meant when talking about the politics of police work. I will always remember his sense of humor and his professionalism. He is truly missed...

Hey Alex,

Well it's been four months since you were taken from us. Not a day goes by I don't think about you in some way. Smack got into a car accident yesterday and my heart went into my throat. He and the dog are okay though. I just wonder if I'm ever going to get over this fear for us and our safety that your accident and subsequent death has instilled in me.

I guess I'm at the point where I'm just wondering if you're okay even though you're gone. I mean, it's still so surreal, and I have a good cry now and then, but I wonder if I've taken more steps back then forward grieving. I'm so mad you're gone. Not at you, just in general.

I just miss you a lot friend. Keep watching over us. Love you.

Hey Alex-

Miss you lots. Got to speak with your mom at the fundraiser the other day and it helped a little. Just wanted to tell you the fundraiser went really well and there was a huge turnout. Everyone misses you and we're dealing as best as we can. Thanks for all of the dragonflies. I didn't know the connection until I spoke to some people and realized I saw one in my garage a few weeks ago. Very cool dude. :)

Love you-

I say this for all of us who were lucky enough to have been able to get to know you at the hospital, you will truly be missed. You had an additional work family here at the hospital from all the time you spent here doing details. I had just seen you the week before the accident and you were going to try to come back to take your dinner break to catch up but you were not able to return. I am grateful to have been able to see you that one last time. I just can't believe that you are no longer here. And I think it was your turn to buy me lunch!!(hahaha) You are so loved and will be missed terribly. XOXO

Alex,

Well, it's been a hectic holiday season, and the New Year is almost here. I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry. I couldn't bring myself to go to the memorial night for you. I'm so sorry. I heard it went well. I just haven't been able to go back to the site since that night; I just don't want to remember you that way.

I miss you a lot and hope you will enjoy the present I asked be made for your mom. Please protect us and keep us safe. Thinking I will never again be able to talk to you in person again always makes me sad. I am trying to be brave, but your death has left me very sad and scared. I didn't need this reality check; I don't think anyone did. I love you very much and miss our talks. I'm sorry they became as infrequent as they were in the time that passed.

Love you! Me

PS As a side note, you'd love the amount of hits you get when you Google your name. I laugh every time it comes up 'cause I know you'd get a kick out of it. It should be for those famous abs though...

Police Officer's Prayer

Lord I ask for courage

Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...

And please Lord

Through it all
Be at my side...

2513 was a great officer and role model. Even though I met him once he left that impression on me. Godspeed 2513. May you Rest In Peace.

Tribute to an Officer
by Willie Taylor

It started out as a tour of duty with a routine trend,
With no clue at all that it held a tragic end.
Over the radio the coded call came,
An officer is down, no mention of a name.
We look at each other with shock and fear
Afraid of the next words that we might hear.
The day suddenly becomes a dark somber grey
We just learned an officer has died on this day.
The flags are dropped to half-mast
Eyes are filled with tears and all faces are down-cast
Badges and ID's are trimmed in black
But none of this will bring our friend back.
Alert messages are sent to law enforcement agencies far and wide
To let them know a family member had died.
They will come from everywhere to pay their respect in kind
To the family and loved ones the officer has left behind.
Tomorrow we will try to go about a normal day
For we know the officer would want it that way.
They know how much we truly care
And that our grief is so hard to bear.
That time alone will erase the pain
And the memories in our hearts will always remain.

Officer

Alex, it's been almost a month and I can still barely believe you're gone. We met by happenstance and things just clicked between us. I'll always remember our conversation about Transformers during our first meeting, the excitement you had when we talked about your goals, and your positive outlook...I'm not sure if you ever knew, but our meetings were often the high point of my week. You were absolutely amazing and I can only thank God that I got the privilege to know you, not only as a client, but as a person, and as a friend.

Dear Alex,

In September 2008, I had the gracious honor of meeting you when the Accident Investigation Unit spoke at the Citizens Police Academy. Also as a community involved leader, I also had the pleasure of meeting you then, may I say with all the reflections I have read, my sediments are the same, your were the "lead by example officer" and will defiintely be a tough act to follow. your attitude, your appearance, all the unique qualities in a Police Officer, but you were also sensitive and caring to others in need, you served and protected. You answered the call of yourself gave your all, and A PART OF AMERICA DIED) Watch over us Alex and keep us safe.

I miss you friend. I'm having a hard time dealing with you being gone. I keep thinking you're on vacation and going to walk through the door any minute. You were so full of life and fun. You were my buddy. You stuck with me through thick and thin when I didn't even realize it. This has all been so surreal.

It's been three weeks and I'm missing you lots. Please keep us all safe.

Hi Alex,
It's been over 2 weeks since you left us, but I think about you everyday and I will continue to do so. You always had a genuine smile, and a "hey Christine" for me. I can still hear your voice in my head and it brings a smile to my face.

I'm also grateful that you were the officer on the last two DUI crashes that I handled. You were always willing to help me out, without me even having to ask. And I'm still thankful that you cosigned the towslip with me because I was "paranoid" that one time haha.
I'm going to miss you!
