My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I had a chance to meet your fellow officers at Police Week this year. I had the Honor of riding with them on several escorts. They are true professionals, every one of them.

They spoke highly of you and they truly rode in your honor.

Larry you are truly missed. I am doing what I can to help get the guys to ride in your honor. You were very important to me and my community as are all the other officers that make such a difference to us here in Rancho! In your honor we set out cars on cruise control as we travel Cooloma road insuring that we NEVER go over the speed limit! Wish everybody would!

Larry, I rememeber meeting you for the first time while you were on a stop in Rio Linda. I was trying to get you guys to leave so we could monitor a 1 lb dope deal. The big ol' grin with the cigar stiffed in you face as you told me you had already stopped and arrested the guy is still fresh in my mind. Recently one of your Rancho Cordova brothers had another M/C crash. He got off with pretty minor injuries. Somehow I knew you'd still be on the job! God bless bro. I never had the great pleasure of knowing Deputy Canfield, however; I have had the honor of working with a few of his fellow brothers and sisters. I can say the men and woman I have met and worked with from SSD have always impressed me.

While not an SSD employee, I was privileged to have met Larry on numerous occasions. The stogie is what we all notice first, but that sense of humor and good nature are what made him memorable.

You will be missed by all that knew you. No words can express the emotion we have all felt over the past week. Nothing said can ease the suffering of SSD, RCPD, and Larry's family - but know that we're praying for you and will be here to support you in any way we can.
