Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. Millsap family I am proud to say that when I knew Police Officer Shane Cory Figueroa I worked at the Phoenix Police Academy. Officer Figueroa was a fine and upstanding recruit and at the very beginning of his career. He showed that he represented the very essence of honesty and integrity of the Phoenix Police Department. I am a better person to have known him and can proudly say that it was an honor and privilege to have known him for the short time he was a recruit and officer. Maybe because Officer Figueroa was only 4 years older than my husband and I, and he left such a young child behind, who will never know their father. Every time this tragedy has been mentioned on the news, I get this twinge in my heart and this spark of anger that this accident could have been avoided.
