 | Officer Kristine Marie Fairbanks United States Department of Agriculture - Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations U.S. Government Saturday, September 20, 2008 |
Thank you for your bravery, duty and ultimate sacrifice. You will FOREVER be a hero and will NEVER be fogotten! Sergeant, Retired Fayetteville, AR PD 2010-02-03
LADY WARRIOR In memory of Deputy Anne Jackson, Skagit County Sheriff’s Department And US Forest Service Officer Kristine Fairbanks Both killed in the line of duty in Washington State, September 2008
Somebody somewhere called you “daughter”, or “sister” Perhaps somebody somewhere called you “mom” I suppose somebody somewhere called you “lover” And the loss they feel, no doubt’s at least as strong
But Lady Warrior Is how I came to know you Sister Soldier Is who you were to me Lady Warrior That fire that burned within you Was the same warrior fire That burns inside of me
You fought beside me In the mountains and the valleys You stood beside me In the heat of the fire You walked beside me Down those darkest streets and alleys Full of courage, and strength, and warrior fire
And Lady Warrior Is how I came to know you Sister Soldier Is who you were to me Lady Warrior That fire that burned within you Was the same warrior fire That burns inside of me
Another warrior Has fallen in the battle A brave soldier Has paid the final price Another hero Gave her life as a reminder That freedom only comes Through sacrifice
Warrior Is how I came to know you Soldier Is who you were to me Lady Warrior That fire that burned within you Was the same warrior fire That burns inside of me
Lady Warrior That fire that burned within you Trust that your warrior fire Burns on Inside of me

Kris, I miss you so much. Words could never say how much I miss you or how big a gap your leaving left in my life... I miss you, I miss you, I miss you. Sometimes I wish that I could just talk to you, tell you how Aries is doing, and have you meet Lola. But I know that's not happening. I miss you, Kris.

Thoughts with Brian, Whitney and the rest of the family at this difficult time.
"Many tender memories soften your grief, May fond recollection bring you relief, And may you find comfort and peace in the thought Of the joy that knowing your loved one brought... For time and space can never divide Or keep your loved one from your side When memory paints in colors true The happy hours that belonged to you". ~ Helen Steiner Rice Andy B Former co-worker 2009-09-20
I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man/woman they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Fairbanks. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Kristine, she sounds like she was a great woman with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew her in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Kristine's life and the WOMAN that she was. Remember that Kristine's life was about so much more than the way he died. Kristine will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember her.
Officer Fairbanks, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost seven years but we still miss him terribly.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

Dear Kris,
I went to fair with Lola. She did great. We got blues in everything except for Rally, which we got a white in, and Obedience, which we were dq from. It wasn't her fault, though, and you would've agreed. All in all, it was a ton of fun, & she loved the petting bench. But you should've been there to see us. You should've. We miss and love you always, Kris!

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Fairbanks and we honor her distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Fairbanks, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with her when she walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that she will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Fairbanks is distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for her brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
It was their duty to serve; it is ours to remember. Special Agent FBI New York City 2009-08-07
I was training at FLETC when you made the ultimate sacrifice. I will never forget your dedication to our profession, and your brave and courageous stand against those who would hurt the innocent..May God keep you, Bless You and your family , and hold you all in the Palm of His Hand.... I'm missing you especially bad right now, Kris... Wish you could have seen me & Lola at Summer Classics. It was so much fun. She thinks she's a lap dog & would sit on my lap when I sat on the ground. Then I would use her for a pillow. Very comfy. We got Reserve Champion in Rally. i could go on for hours, but really, I can sum it up in four words: I miss you soooooooo much.
Love you soooooooooooooo much, Kris. I'll never forget you.

I wanted to stop in and leave a short poem to let you know that you have not been forgotten.
Poem by Richard Fife:
No person is ever truly alone. Those who live no more, Whom we loved, Echo still within our thoughts, Our words, our hearts. And what they did, And who they were, Becomes a part of all that we are, Forever. Bob Gordon Father of Chicago Officer; Michael P. Gordon, EOW: 8/8/04 2009-04-11
Kris-I wish you were in court today to see our guy sentenced. You would have been so proud. We would definitely have celebrated. I miss you so much. Special Agent Anne Minden U.S. Forest Service 2009-04-10
I've heard it said That people come into our lives for a reason Bringing something we must learn And we are led To those who help us most to grow If we let them And we help them in return Well, I don't know if I believe that's true But I know I'm who I am today Because I knew you...
It has happened, so We will never meet again In this lifetime So let me say before we part So much of me Is made of what I learned from you You'll be with me Like a handprint on my heart And now whatever way our stories end I know you have re-written mine By being my friend...
Love you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much Kris. Thnks for EVERYTHING!

My thoughts go out to all of your loved ones and close friends during this very trying time. Keep watch over all of them, wrap your wings around them and protect them from harm. Come to them in their dreams so they feel your presence and know you are watching over them. You are a true hero. Bob Gordon Father of Chicago Officer: Michael P. Gordon, EOW: 8/8/04 2009-03-07
Kris, I miss you so much. I think of you every day, and every time I see a police officer I think of you and pray for them. Brian and Whitney are always in my thoughts and prayers. I'm still working Monster Dog, but have also found a better behaved dog to take to fair. All in all, I guess I'm okay... But I miss you so bad. I love you so much, Kristen Kristen L. 4-H Happy Tails member 2009-02-20
You Taught Me You taught me Everything I know You taught me How to grow You taught me How deeply I can love You taught me To dream big You taught me How to let go of hate You taught me TO put my all into what I do You taught me How to forgive You taught me How to live
