Trooper Schneider,

I thought you'd like to know that I've had the honor of defending 2 of your past investigations in court recently. Acting within the capacity of a crash reconstructionist I've reviewed the investigations you had prepared, and then easily defended the conclusions you had reached. Only through your diligent efforts, professionalism, and obvious dedication to duty were we able to bring closure to these cases. Your investigatory efforts reflect your skills and abilities. I just thought you'd like to know that though your shift has now ended, your work continues to help those you had sworn to protect. It has been my honor to be your personal representative in these cases. Thank you for all you have done. Rest well now. I'm very proud of you.

WHEN DUTY CALLED, THERE WAS NO THOUGHT BUT ANSWER
NO QUESTION, BUT THE TASK THAT MUST BE DONE
THROUGH DEATH THEIR FINAL PAYMENT FOR THE VICTORY
FOR HONOR WAS THE BATTLE FOUGHT, AND WON

NO MONUMENT STANDS HIGHER THAN THIER VALOR
NO WORDS REPLACE THE LOSS OF HEROES, SLAIN
BUT WHEN THEIR NAMES ARE REMEMBERED GIVES US COURAGE
THEIR SACRIFICE SHALL NOT HAVE BEEN IN VAIN

Evan,

I wish I would have stopped on my way home that evening when I saw you parked at the gas station with the deputies. I never imagined when I got paged minutes later, how quickly life changes. Every morning and every evening while I'm driving that stretch of highway I think about you, and think of how great of a Trooper and role model you were for us all. Please watch over all of us!

You Will Never Be Forgotten!

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Trooper Schneider. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on face book. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Evan, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Evan's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Evan's life was about so much more than the way he died. Evan will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Trooper Schnieder, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost six years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

You are greatly missed, 330. I dont know of any other law enforcement officer who could pull someone over, and even though they may drive away with a ticket, they also drove away with a smile, because you had such a wonderful way with people. It was a pleasure getting to work with Evan in the field.I am a local firefighter/emt in the Flathead, so we would meet up every so often . God Bless the Schneider Family

To the family and friends of Trooper Evan Schneider and the members of the Montana Highway Patrol, and most especially to Evan:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Evan was tragically killed.

To Evan's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Evan gave to his community and the citizens of Montana, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 26, 2008

In my position with the Patrol, I have the opportunity and privilege to assist in the hiring of uniformed troopers. It truly is an experience for me to watch interested potential applicants become applicants, cadets, and newly-sworn troopers…and as they blossom in their chosen career as a Trooper with the Montana Highway Patrol. Trooper Evan Schneider is one of those troopers that blossomed and developed into a proud member of the Patrol, and I was proud of him.

Evan was courteous and polite…he had kind manner and shy grin that would break into a beautiful smile. When Evan was at Headquarters, he would usually stop by my office at Headquarters to say hi and see how I was doing. I always appreciated those visits and certainly now I do treasure the visits we had.

It was obvious by the glimmer in his eye, the love he had for his dear wife, Carrie, as well as his loving parents, brother, and his many creatures for which he cared.

Trooper Evan Schneider, you will always be remembered. Thank you for your service to the Patrol and the citizens of Montana.

To his family, may God hold you and uplift as you remember Evan.

Blessed by the memory of Trooper Evan F. Schneider.
