Mike, I miss you. You were all that was good in this world, and all that I had grown up to achieve in your eyes.
But as you would be strong I shall also. But yet I know you had a heart, and mine will always have a empty place that shall never heal.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

To those who loved Lieutenant Avilucea, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. It's been a long hard road, and even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure Michael will always be a part of yours.

It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Lieutenant Avilucea for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.

Wishing those who loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law breakers, and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of men.

My heart felt condolences to Officer Avilucea's family and friends. Another hero joins his other fallen brothers. It is a job our loved one's were proud of and it showed in their decication and service to the community and people they served. The pain of losing them never goes away, however, it is in memories that they continue to live on in our hearts. To his Fiancee, my heart goes out to you because there are so many plans and dreams that were left undone. But, You are always in his heart, and he watches you, just like my James watches & is with me & our son. He's with you and he will comfort you in your darkest hours. To his children, You are his prize assets. He lives through you. My son, Jesse-James is his father's legacy. He is with you always in heart!
