I was a great admirer of Fred. I interned at the D.A. and came back to coordiante the program I interned for about 12 years ago. In that time I came to know Fred well. Gary his son was one of my best friends in high school. When I found out from another ex-co-worker of mine at the D.A. that Fred had passed away, I told him to please send my condolences to Gary. I could not believe that such a great man had passed away. Fred was an amazing investigator, but I got to also see the side of him as a father as well. When Fred and I talked on several occasions, we disccused his love, caring and concern for his son. I will never forget the amount of love he had for Gary. I was fortunate to know such a wonderful man both at work and with his family. I am sad that he is no longer with us.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 2nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered as will all the 9/11 heroes. Rest In Peace.

In reading the loving reflections, I see that you are missed and loved by many and that you had a profound impact on the lives of others. I hold your family and friends in my heart's embrace today.

Fred,
Shalom Alicha Achi.
I had the privledge to work with Fred prior to 9-11 and after. We would both share our stories of Jerusalem. What a great loss. I will always see Fred as a true gentleman.

I had the honor of working with Investigator Fred Ghussin, before and after the 911 attacks, while assigned to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. Fred was the consumate professional and gentleman. He was a tenacious investigator and an "unsung hero" who dilligently pursued terrorists, here and abroad. Because Fred was a very humble man, many of us will never know the entire extent of his contributions to public safety, which were very significant. Fred - God Bless you and your family - it was a sincere priviledge to know you,

Like many of these people, I didn't know Mr.Ghussin personally, but I have heard wonderful things about him. I've seen his son Gary cope with his loss of his father who meant the world to him. Gary always tells me about all of the memories he has with his father and just by hearing from him, I see the hero in this man. For everyone who has lost a piece of him, I send my sympathy to. I see what a great man he is when his sons talk about him, because their faces light up with happiness, with just the thought of their father.rip, you were a heroic figure for everyone.

I will be one of over 400 law enforcement officers who will be bicycling from New Jersey to the Police Memorial in Washington D.C. in the 2008 Police Unity Tour.
I picked Sr. Inves. Fred Ghussin to ride for and in memeory of this year.
From what I have just read about Fred it will be an honor to wear the blue bracelet with his name on it and to hopefully receive his family in D.C. as New Survivors.
The Paterson, N.J. Police sent volunteer officers to Ground Zero less than 48 hours after the attacks and being one of those volunteers, I appreciate the sacrifice Fred and thousands of other rescue workers made.
The Police Unity Tour "Rides for Those Who Have Died" and Senior Investigator Fred Ghussin would be one of those riders if he were here. Again, its my honor to ride the over 300 miles in honor of Senior Investigator Fred Ghussin, this Police Week, 2008.

Fred Ghussin was best described by the journalist Steve Emerson when he said - "This man is a national treasure." Steve became familiar with Fred and his work while Fred worked on the investigation of the murder of Rabii Meir Kahane and on the first World Trade Center attack.

Fred joined the Investigation Bureau after working for several years in another city agency and after having served as a policeman in Jerusalem in his home country of Israel. He immediately fit in with his co-workers and was known for his tenacity and intelligence, and he also had a wry wit.

It's important to point out that our colleague was a Muslim, a devoted family man, and an American hero. He was a remarkable guy and I feel personally honored to have had the opportunity to know and work with him.

With deep fondness and condolences,

Andy Rosenzweig

My prayers are with the Ghussin family and I thank them for sharing Fred with all of us.
I have been attending the Memorial in Washington DC every year since 1988, and I never thought that we would have a LOD death from our job - there's only 300 of us throughout NYC. My visit to DC this year will be a very special one for me, and I invite and urge all DA Investigators in NYC to make it a point to come to DC to honor Fred's memory and to be there for his family.

When 9/11 struck the world, I was a rookie. I listened to the radio reports of those killed at the time. It was the first day that I understood what it meant to be a part of the brotherhood that is Policing.

It saddens me deeply to hear that we are still losing brave heros from that tragic day.

Prayers and thoughts sent for Senior Invesitgator GHUSSIN, family, friends and colleagues of all those that suffered from that terrible day.

On 9/11 as thousands of people ran from the Twin Towers You and the Men and Women of Law Enforcement and Fire and Rescue ran in. You were heroes then as you are now. No one could imagine what you endured in that time, or knew that years later you too would be a victim of those cowardly terrorists.. May you have peace and my thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends.
