I went to junior high and high school with Vu. I remember him fondly as a sweet boy who never offended anyone and was filled with integrity. I was very shocked and saddened to hear of his death recently during a 20 year HS reunion. May the Lord keep his families safe and comfort them knowing he was a great boy as a child and an even greater man as an adult. Betty Lemos,MFT Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace in such incidents & our only real comfort comes from Him. May His strength, comfort & peace continue to be the sustaining force in the lives of all who knew this beloved officer; and may it somehow help to know they do not grieve alone. Vicki Hare, Telecommunicator I knew Vu in college. A friend of mine just told me about his passing. I cannot believe that such a great person as Vu is gone from this world. He was so nice and so real. In todays world you cannot find anyone like this. I am so heart broken that he has passed. He was such a good person! Stacie R Hi brother, Tammy Deputy Vu Nguyen: Karen One year ago, you gave the ultimate sacrifice in protecting the citizens of the County of Sacramento. That's how you were. You gave it everything you had, no matter what you did. Sacramento County is a little safer today because of heros like you. Sgt. R. Gregson My thoughts and prayers are with your loved ones and friends on this first anniversary of your EOW. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol watching over the Thin Blue Line. You will never be forgotten. James Sheppard I am a friend of Vu's since 1976. I can honestly say that in the time I was lucky enough to share with Vu I can't remember a negative word from him. Vu was as loyal a friend as there is. Vu lived with honor and pride like few of us only strive to do so. His funeral was both beautiful and one of the most helpless feelings I've ever endured. I love you and will always miss you. Martin B. Munoz Happy Birthday, Vu Dinh Nguyen. Hip Happy Birthday bro! Sgt. R. Gregson Deputy Vu Nguyen, Deputy Sheriff Deputy Vu - My little brother Dective Kent Haws of Tulare County Sheriff's Dept. was shot and killed just a few days before you. I was at the Sacramento memorial and met your sweet wife. She and I hugged, her eyes spoke the words she did not know how to say. I had the pleasure of sitting by her side in Washington D.C. and holding her hand - so tiny. Your brothers in law enforcement stayed close to her - protecting her like you would have. I feel her pain and wish you and my brother were still with us, although I know you are with us always in spirit. I am sure you and my brother are busy in Heaven as it seems like Jesus is taking his warriors home. There must be a reason why you both were called so young. I will keep your wife in my prayers. Always "Sis" Chemene Haws Chemene Haws Hey brother, Deputy Ruben Peņa Vu, Thanks again for your courageous efforts. Rest in peace brother. Deputy Eric Bakulich #102 I have been honored with the duty of riding for and representing Deputy Nguyen in the this years Police Unity Tour. Chaplain Our thoughts and our hearts go out to Deputy Vu Nguyen for his ultimate sacrifice. We all at Sundance Citizens Patrol & Emergency Services commend you for all you have done in protecting us from all the evil doings in our shadows. You will be missed. Chief Daniel Sherburne I had the privilege of attending Junior High and High School with Vu...After learning of Vu's death I was on a mission to find my junior high and high school yearbooks to be able to go back to 1984-1989...I immediately found what Vu had written in my yearbooks over 20 years ago and enjoyed a nice chuckle through my tears...I hadn't seen Vu since we graduated in 1989 but it didn't surprise me that he "grew up" to become a detective and such a well liked and loved man...Even as a teenager Vu was "special". Xilonen Martinez Deputy Nguyen, Sgt Nyce Sac county has lost another one of it's finest.....R.I.P. officer murphy May you rest in peace and may the Good Lord comfort your family, friends and fellow deputies. Deputy Nguyen, you are a true hero. anonymous As I read the facts surrounding your death, it reminded me of the death of one of our own. Det. Keith Dressel was killed in the line of duty on 21 Feb 07 by a 15 year old male armed with a handgun after a brief footpursuit and struggle. It just goes to show that it doesn't matter if you work on the east coast, the plains, a Big City or somewhere out west, the THIN BLUE LINE is everywhere. We face the same dangers day in and day out. Each one of us doing our job, so that others may sleep peacefully at night, walk down their streets without fear, and raise their families in security. We are America's protectors of peace on the home front. Sworn to defend the citizens of our communities with our lives if called to do so. God Bless you, and may he look over your family and help them find peace and strength. I know that your brothers and sisters on the force will take care of your wife, the same way ours are doing for Det. Dressel's wife and children. Rest in Peace, as you have done your duty. OFF. Amy Herrick My uncle, Detective Kent Haws, of Tulare County Sheriff Dept died two days before Deputy sheriff Vu Nguyen. I'm so sadden of this tragic, I know exactly what friends and loved one's of Vu are going through and I know there where both hero's. Too the family of Vu, Keep strong everyone as try to do the same down in central California. Deputy Sheriff Vu Nguyen Your going to meet my favorite uncle Detective Kent Haws in heaven.
