Today is the first anniversary of your homecoming. From these reflections I can tell you are missed. D. S. Tanner served proudly and was deeply loved and respected by those who knew her. It is a tragedy to lose her. We never know when our lives on this earth will end, but we can make a reservation in Heaven now and assure us a place when God calls us to Himself. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) and He PAID the price for our sins on the Cross so we don't have to pay the penalty for our sins. Yipee! If we accept His payment by faith we can have salvation and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It is not something we must earn, it is a gift. The most precious one we can ever receive. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith_and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God_not by good deeds, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. And our faith must be in God's only Son, Jesus Christ. You were a credit to the uniform, Robin. My heart goes out to your loved ones left behind and may the Lord comfort them as only He can. Lynn Kole Bellingham, WA Anonymous

Robin served a lot longer that 6 years, I knew her well, twenty years ago. I was in D.C. last week and etched her name from the National Law Enforcement officers Memorial. I am happy to e-mail a photo to anyone who wants one.

Well...I completed the Unity Tour. Unfortunately we could not ride on the third day because mother nature had something else planned for us. But you should know that I kept asking your for strength and you gave it to me. I met some people that worked in your area and that knew you. I gave them your bracelet to get it to your family along with my information to contact me if they wanted. Thank you for what you have done and I am sorry your gone from here. Please continue to watch over all of us, your brothers and sisters in brown and blue. We continue to walk the thin blue line. Hope we can meet when I come to join your watch in heaven. S.H. I knew Robin during her sojourn away from Florida. She always had a kind word and a smile, even when she seemed stressed. That endearing character of hers made her that much better as a police officer--she was kind to citizens and fellow officers alike. I was saddened to see her smiling face here on this tragic website. I know that she's missed, and I hope that God grants her family and friends solace. Det. Dan Jackson St. Louis County PD 2008-03-03

I do not know you but my heart bleeds for you and your love ones. We know now you are truely safe. On May 10, 2008 I begin a journey in your name I ride the Police Unity Tour. I have been chosen to ride in your honor. I will complete the ride knowing your sacrifice. Give me the strength that I need to go the distance. Thank you. S.H. I wish to thank everyone who placed a reflection for my sister-in-law, Robin Tanner and for those who attended her funeral. I was overwhelmed by the turn out of officers from many branches that came to visit and show their respects. For that, I am very greatful and feel very blessed that she had so many friends all around the country. Again, thanks to everyone for the heartfelt cards, calls, flowers, donations to The Sheriff's Boys Ranch and hugs, they will always be remembered. Missy Tanner

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Tanner. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Robin, she sounds like she was a great woman with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew her in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Robin's life and the WOMAN that she was. Remember that Robin's life was about so much more than the way she died. Robin will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember her.
Deputy Tanner, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

To the Tanner family-
I am so blessed to be able to call Bob Tanner, sister of Robin Tanner, my first cousin. Thank you, Bob and Missy for the service of your sister to our country. Her dedication will now serve as an example to all and have far reaching effects beyond all of our lifetimes. A Huntsville police officer, Eric Freeman, was killed in the line of duty just one day after Robin. It is great Officer Eric Freeman had Deputy Robin Tanner to greet him for his new beat on the streets of gold.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Tanner, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses It's you and the roses
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow Heal me from all this sorrow As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes Now I'm living in your afterglow
Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow? In between the longing to hold you again I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control My mind drifts away, we only have today
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow Heal me from all this sorrow As I let you go I will find my way I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes Now I'm living in your afterglow
When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow Heal me from all this sorrow As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice Now I'm living in your afterglow

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Deputy Tanner and we honor her distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Deputy Tanner has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Tanner, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with her when she walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that she will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Deputy Tanner is distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for her brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Robin:
I remember the day you came to work at the Marathon Station. You were cheery, energetic and full of life. You brightened up the days of everyone you made contact with. I don't remember hearing any negative comments about you. I respected the way you did your job and the way you carried yourself throughout every tour of duty. I missed you very much when I left the department and when I was told that the MCSO had lost one of its lovely daughters I was terribly upset and felt the loss as if I was still in Marathon. I missed the celebration of your life and career, but only because it was impossible for me to make the trip. I was there in spirit.
Law Enforcement in general, and the Florida Keys specifically, have lost one of our best and brightest. As Suzanne Morgan has so eloquently stated it, "It is now your turn” and we all need your vigilance. I know you are up for the job; you have never let us down.

My condolences to your wonderful family, friends, and your law enforcement family. We are all missing you, but better for having known you.
I personally will miss our rollcalls where your animated personality balanced my somber tone because I am not a morning person. The guys will miss the treats you baked for them and I will miss our personal girl chats. None of us are looking forward to the first rollcall where we are all together without you. You were a hard worker, great police officer, and always a reliable, brave, and worthy squad member.
I was given the task to watch over you, now it is your turn to watch over me.
