Kelly,
We know you are now in a better place, but we will always miss you here. Every message here shared about you confirms the respect and admiration others have for you - because of how you lived your life and performed your duties. You found excitement and challenges in every day and used your energies to make the world a better place.
We know you will continue to watch over your family, your fellow officers and all of us, until we meet again.

I just discovered this memorial site, from news stories for a deputy whose life was taken this week in South Dakota. Thank you to those who have created this tribute to our fallen officers. God bless.

Yesterday was a year...

This is the first time i have been able to bring myself to write about you kelly.

Keep watching over us, keep giving us the calm that we all need.

I will keep protecting your girls here. Keep protecting us too.

We love you A185. And will NEVER forget you!

THANK YOU

Kelly -

Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and miss you. It seems insane to think I'll never hear your voice on the radio again "A185, traffic" "A185, name scan for wants" "A185, I've got one running..." or see you come walking through the door with that big ol' grin on your face. We're doing our best to take care of Chris and the girls, but we can't take your place and it's not the same without you... nor will it ever be. Rest in peace, my brother, my friend. M.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Fredinburg. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Kelly, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Kelly's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Kelly's life was about so much more than the way he died. Kelly will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Deputy Fredinburg, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

I am sorry we couldn't get you out of the car, we tried Kelly. Ron got to Scott in time to help him. Scott is doing well.

We all miss you Brother, rest in piece.

"It's not how he died, but how he lived that makes him a hero."

My thoughts and prayers are with the family, co-workers, citizens and all that knew this Deputy. May they find comfort in knowing that law enforcement officers all over the world will forever recognize this man and never forget the sacrifice he has made.

Kelly,

I only knew you for a short time. You sat next to me at the academy and I could always count on you to have a smile on your face. The same smile I see in your picture. God Bless you Brother.

Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Kelly,

Although we were friends in high school, we drifted as people do over the years. Then..I would start seeing you at trainings when we both entered into law enforcement. And then I started seeing you at the jail if we both had a custody at the same time. It was always nice to see you and chat even if it was just for a few minutes. You always had that grin..because the job is a blast.

You were a good man, and a good cop. Your service was something to be proud of.

Rest in peace brother.

I had came across this story and seeeing that this tragic accident happened just last month tore me apart. my prayers are with his family.
To The Family:
I know the accident occured a month ago and the hurt is still fresh, but, some how you will go on but you will never foreget. I know how it feels to have someone you loved just ripped right from your reach. but, he will be always around you even though you cant see him... there will be a certain song that comes on the radio that makes you think of him. that is his way of telling you that he is there next to you and watching you. if you hear a familiar sound or smell a familiar fragrance that his way of letting you know that he is there next to you. I hope my words are words of comfort. take care and my prayers are with you.

With heavy hearts we send our condolences to the Fredinburg family. There are no words that fellow law enforcement officers can express to show the gratitude we have for the brave efforts of people like him. His dedication to duty and to protecting others is quite obvious and we are a stronger profession because of him.

Blessings to you Deputy Fredinburg and may you find the peace that you are well deserved.
