Jon, Anonymous YOU ARE REMEMBERED TODAY AND THANK YOU SIR FOR YOUR SERVICE AND DEDICATION VANDENBERGHE I attended the Ohio State Highway Patrol's memorial service for the first time this past May and was moved by the dedication the Patrol has for remembering it's fallen officers. I was also greatly moved by the number of family members who come back year after year to honor their loved ones...some who have died over 50 years ago. Becky Muncy, widow of Sgt. Marc Muncy Jon’s widow and son are my mother and half-brother. I grew up knowing about Jon, who was killed in the line of duty while pursuing a fleeing vehicle, three years before I was born and understanding why my brother had a different father other than my own. I grew up understanding the ultimate sacrifices those in law enforcement can make and the family victims that are left behind. I also grew up understanding the complete and unequivocal support and care that the Ohio Highway State Patrol takes in the care and support of the widows and children of its fallen officers. Even though so many years had gone by my mother still received insurance and my brother got tuition assistance for college, even though he was an infant at the time of his father’s death. It is that dedication and devotion that makes me proud to wear a uniform myself and continue a legacy in the thin blue line. Sergeant J.P. Cline Jon, although I did not have the opportunity of knowing you, please know that you are not forgotten. The patrol recently had a poster printed with your picture on it along with all the other fallen "troops" from Ohio. Heather Thank you for your sacrifice and dedication.Your legacy lives on in all Ohio Troopers. Former Ohio Trooper You are a hero and although gone for a while, you are not forgotten.... Rest in peace.
