I miss you everyday of my life. My love FOREVER. Lisa

Chris,
I miss you every day but some days are just harder than others. Today is one of those days. I know you are watching over us and can see how big the kids are getting. Sage and Gage hit it off at the wedding like they had been cousins their whole lives. I know it was meant for both of our Step-Sons to be the same age and have names that were almost exact. Lisa and I laugh about it all the time. I wish you could have met Tony and Gage. I know you would have loved them as much as I do. Tony is everything you ever wanted for me. Alexa Rae, well my goodness, she is so you. She talks about you ALL THE TIME. Saturday she spent the night with us. On the way to our house she told me "You know what Aunt". I said, "what Lexa." She said, "My Daddy in Heaven misses me". I said, "yes, he does" and to that she said, "And he loves me too". With tears streaming down my face I told her, "yes, he does baby, more than anyone on this earth". She never surprises us with the things she says. Like I said, She is so you! Momma tells me that all the time.
Watch over us all as always. We all still need you!
With all my heart, I love you always!

Chris, I think of you, along with my Mark, Pat and Terry, very often. I wonder sometimes what gets us through each day after losing such amazing people. I want you to know that your family is wonderful. Lisa is such a beautiful person, inside and out. You two were blessed.

Your birthday has passed again and it is still hard to believe you weren't here for us to celebrate it with you. Dinner just wasn't the same without you. We did get to have cake as we are sampling wedding cake for my wedding in November. I know no one would have enjoyed that more than you would have!!! It is so hard planning this day without you here to hell me "how it should be done" like you always did. I know you are watching down on us with that big grin of yours. I love you and miss you more than anyone can imagine. Sister Sister

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day To respond to calls unknown. He drives a marked patrol car. A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes To make it safe on the streets. But he usually has a second job 'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday 'Cause he works all year round. And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often, The one whos blood runs blue. He seldom ever gets a thanks, To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops 'Cause people just don't understand That underneath his badge and gun, He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow In this world of drugs and crime. And he gets so mad at the court system 'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work, He prays to God above. Please bring me home after my shift So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car, He's alone down this ole' highway. It's just a little traffic infraction. He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window, And his badge is shining bright. He asked the guy for a driver's license, When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark, Striking the officer in the chest. But the Department's budget didn't buy Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding. His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red. And briefly he thought of his loved ones 'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story Of how this officer had died. And some who listened cared less, But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform With his badge pinned on his chest. He even had his revolver, He died doing his best.

My heart aches for your smile, laugh , and love. We have all made it through yet another holiday season without you, but I thank God everyday for the holidays we had with you and all the wonderful memories to share with Alexa. Words can't express how much we all miss you. I love you dearly and always will forever. Please con't to watch over us and your fellow officiers. My love always, your wife. Cpl Metternich Rest in Peace my brother Motorman and thank you for your service . May your rides in heaven be smooth and we hear your Harley in the thunder.
To Cpl Metternich's sister I want to thank you for the words you provided to Joshua Norris EOW 7/5/07 who was to be my son in-law, they touched my daughter and has helped my family during a dark time. My daughter had a general idea of how large our police family was, but your reflection showed just how large the family of blue is. I got to meet your brothers from Baton Rouge this weekend, as well as your sister and your mom. What an awesome group of people they all are. I was truly inspired by them and the way they have continued to keep your memory alive. They are truly living for you! I'm sure by now you have met my husband and have been riding on the golden streets of heaven together. Tell my husband I miss him and that I think of him everyday. Can't wait to meet you when we all get to heaven. Ashlee Hardy, Ofc Wes Hardy's Wife, EOW 07/07/07 2007-08-27
