On 09/29/05 Boston Police Academy RTG 42-05 remembered Special Agent Daniel P. Madrid and dedicated our training day to him. Boston Police Academy RTG 42-05 It was with great sorrow that I learned of Danny's death. The short time that I worked with him at Globe Fire Dept was the most memorable. Yancey Harrington It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death of Dan Madrid, affectionately known as "Pinky" by those of us who fought fire with him in the Forest Service back in 70's and early 80's. He was a friend and coworker on Engine 238 and we shared many adventures, including the memorable and massive Marble Cone Fire near Monterrey back in 1977. As young firefighters we also had our share of fun and excitement. I was fortunate to meet up with Dan after he left the Forest Service and went to the Park Service. It was on my last assignment as a Globe Hotshot, and we reported to Dan's duty station at Flamingo in the Everglades National Park where Dan briefed us for our first night shift assignment. Unfortunately that week in 1989 was the last time I saw Dan, but he would call me occasionally in the years to come...always enthusiastic about his work. I know one thing, he was an extremely dedicated and motivated firefighter, officer, and family man. He will be missed by many, including those of us in the Forest Service who began their careers along side him. Mark Hostetler, Fire & Aviation CO Although a month has passed since Dan joined God I still keep waiting for my phone to ring or my home front door to pop open to hear, "What ya doin' B?", but it no longer comes. Dan was notorious for catching me in my pajamas or looking my utmost worst at home! He never cared. Dan was probably one of the least judgemental people I ever met. He saw the better side of people and liked almost everyone. Supervisory Park Ranger Beth Stout My family would like to extend our deepest heart felt sympathies to the family, friends, and fellow co-workers of Special Agent Daniel Madrid. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. We would like to let law enforcement officers everywhere know how much we appreciate them for putting their lives on the line everyday doing their jobs to keep their communities safe. May God watch over and protect each & everyone of you! Gail M Pabst May GOD bless your family and friends at this terrible time. Thank you for your many years of service and dedication. Rest in peace, Sir. Shirley Roberts
