 | Detective Glenn Strange Maine State Police Maine Friday, October 17, 1997 |
Your heroism and service is honored today, the 12th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
To his wife, I can see why you are proud of your husband and his service and your children and their accomplishments. You are also to be credited for your support that helped them all be so productive. I know the hurt never goes away when you lose someone so I am praying for solace for you and your family on this anniversary date.
Rest In Peace, Glenn.

Two weeks ago your daughter Anna graduated with her doctorate in audiology at Bloomsburg University. You would be so proud of her accomplishments.
Aaron also has accomplished so much. He has his masters in computer engineering and is a year and a half away from his law degree from George Washington University and works full-time for the federal government.
Wish you were with us! kathy strange, wife 2008-05-21
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, REST IN PEACE. N.J. TROOPER NEW JERSEY STATE POLICE 2008-04-13
"The Badge" He starts his shift each day To respond to calls unknown. He drives a marked patrol car. A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes To make it safe on the streets. But he usually has a second job 'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday 'Cause he works all year round. And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often, The one whos blood runs blue. He seldom ever gets a thanks, To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops 'Cause people just don't understand That underneath his badge and gun, He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow In this world of drugs and crime. And he gets so mad at the court system 'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work, He prays to God above. Please bring me home after my shift So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car, He's alone down this ole' highway. It's just a little traffic infraction. He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window, And his badge is shining bright. He asked the guy for a driver's license, When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark, Striking the officer in the chest. But the Department's budget didn't buy Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding. His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red. And briefly he thought of his loved ones 'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story Of how this officer had died. And some who listened cared less, But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform With his badge pinned on his chest. He even had his revolver, He died doing his best.

It was a long fight to get his name on the memorial as his case was so complex. It was the former Lt.who began the process and retired before it came to a conclusion. The important part is that he was finally recognized as a line-of-duty death.
He would be as proud of his children today as we are for his sacrifice. kathy strange wife 2007-09-11
Glenn, Well brother trooper, you finally made it to your rightful place on the wall. Kathy fought the good fight, did all the right things and never waivered to have you memorialized in DC. It was my honor to of attended National Police Week to be there for you. Keep a watch over us, as we will never forget you. "In Valor There is Hope" Sgt Mike Edes Maine State Police 2007-05-20
Detective Strange, it’s my humble opinion that your death was not so much a result of a heart attack as it was due to assault and battery on the part of the drive of that car. I only hope he was charged with manslaughter in the least due to the fact that it was a direct result of his actions that you suffered the initial heart attack.
Again, just my humble opinion. I can only hope he faced justice if not in this world, then in the next.
On this 9th anniversary of your death, I just wish to say, may you continue to Rest in Peace and God Bless you, Brother. Ptl. Jim Leahy, Jr. Harvard University Police Dept. 2006-10-17

This is a strange tale and tragic, too because it is the truth. Life is beyond difficult at times. Glenn-I have read many of the reflections that have been left for the many officers that have been taken, and I have cried at a lot of them. However, yours is probably the saddest reflection I have ever read.
How sad for your wife to have gotten you back and to take you home and then not make it there. How awful of a feeling that she must have. My heart goes out to her and the rest of your family. What a roller coaster they rode.
May God bless you and your family. ROSS COUNTY OHIO SHERIFF DEPARTMENT CHILLICOTHE OHIO POLICE DEPARTMENT 2005-07-08
God bless you sir. Rest easy now. Watch over us as we continue the fight, your sacrifice is not forgotten. Officer
