Lt.carollo Pete, God give you rest my brother. I was a New Orleans Police Officer with you. All those years ago, on that darkest of nights, I was there. You were a better Officer than I ever was. You were a better man than I will ever be. I'm still standing the watch with you as my role model. Brothers - Jerry Jerry - Police Officer I salute you for your service and honor you for your sacrifice.
Pete, I was working overtime as a dispatcher when this happened. I recall the radio transmissions as though it was yesterday. When the hospital notified us later that you had departed for a better place, the broadcast was made on all 6 channels by the Police Chaplain. The radios all stayed quiet for what seemed to be hours. Later P.A.N.O., Policeman's Association of New Orleans was formed and your badge, #1544, was accepted as the official emblem for the association. It is still used today on all letterheads and decals. It was an honor to have known you as a hero then, and today you are still a hero in my mind and heart. Save a place for me next to you when God calls me. Jim Moore
