 | Police Officer Daniel R. Boyle Philadelphia Police Department Pennsylvania Wednesday, February 6, 1991 |
During Police week this year 2009, I met Danny Boyles mother and sister. What a blessing it was to meet both of you.
Dear God thank you for sending the Law Enforcement community these two angels. Ofc. Anthony Faverio Washington DC Police 2328 2009-05-18
To the family and friends of Officer Daniel R. Boyle and his fellow officers:
On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to Danny's memory on the ninteenth anniversary of the day he so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.
May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing as the agony of this loss never diminishes.
I know Danny's father must have been proud to have had his son follow in his footsteps.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of service Danny gave to his community and the citizens of Pennslyvania, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 6, 1991.

I remember the fun times we had when I first met you when you were 17. Then years later we came in contact again. I still miss you even though its been 17 years. My best memory is when we went out during a snowstorm and he told me not to worry he drove like that all the time. I thought oh boy here we go. He was a perfect gentleman in every way. You are dearly missed Dan. I thank you for the great job and will see you again one day. Tina Dolch friend 2008-09-25

Danny: We never had the pleasure of knowing you but how proud you must be of your Dad. The work he has accomplished and the good he continues to display assisting needy children to get a good Catholic education is in itself a remarkable task. Danny you died protecting the streets of your hometown; Man hath no greater love than when he gives up life for his friends.
You will never be forgot! Love, Sue & Mike Family friends 2008-02-23

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day To respond to calls unknown. He drives a marked patrol car. A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes To make it safe on the streets. But he usually has a second job 'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday 'Cause he works all year round. And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often, The one whos blood runs blue. He seldom ever gets a thanks, To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops 'Cause people just don't understand That underneath his badge and gun, He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow In this world of drugs and crime. And he gets so mad at the court system 'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work, He prays to God above. Please bring me home after my shift So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car, He's alone down this ole' highway. It's just a little traffic infraction. He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window, And his badge is shining bright. He asked the guy for a driver's license, When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark, Striking the officer in the chest. But the Department's budget didn't buy Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding. His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red. And briefly he thought of his loved ones 'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story Of how this officer had died. And some who listened cared less, But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform With his badge pinned on his chest. He even had his revolver, He died doing his best.

I recall going to mass and your funeral. One of many over the years. But it is THE ONE that stays in my mind and fills my eyes with tears when I talk about it. I recall the firing party and taps being played. Then that wonderful voice singing "Danny Boy." That brought me to tears. I met a woman at a WaWa a few years back wearing YOUR jacket and I mentioned attending your funeral. Then she told me she is your mother. A very fine lady. Rest in peace brother. Your family and friends have not forgotten you. Even some strangers have not forgotten you. John J. Chapman Lower Moreland Township 2007-08-24

Danny, Hard to believe it's 16 years since you were taken from us. We always looked forward to seeing you pull into the academy just before classes started. You could always be counted on to liven up an otherwise boring class.

I was a young Maryland State Trooper at the time of Officer Boyle's death. I am a Philadelphia native and was home visiting my family when I was told by my father of officer boyle's murder. I did not know this officer but every time I conducted a traffic stop I thought of him for some reason. He is remembered and I thank him for keeping me alert and safe in spirit. TFC T.
