 | Patrolman John Cosgrove Central Railroad of New Jersey Police Department Railroad Police Friday, July 4, 1902 |
Far too often railroad police officers are not noticed or not acknowledged. I am glad to see Patrolman Cosgrove honored here. Justice may be blind, but these officers are the healthy eyes of the rails. God bless John Cosgrove, and his fellow high-iron officers for their work and countless sacrifices. EMT M.J. Ptl. Cosgrove, today marks the 230th birthday of our nation and the 104th anniversary of your tragic death. It is a terrible mixture of great joy and great sadness. In all of this time, I know you and Detective Hanson continued to patrol the rails and watch over your families.
I pray that you both and your friend who died with you are Resting in Peace. God Bless you all. Ptl. Jim Leahy, Jr. Harvard University Police Dept. 2006-07-04
