Thinking of you on the 4th anniversary of your EOW. Boy, I was reading about 4 pages of reflections and I just had to stop. The pain is inconceivable. You have missed so many special moments, milestones and celebrations. You are greatly missed. I am sure you are having your own special moments, but those are so far removed from our day to day lives. You are at peace and hopefully, one day the same can be said for all who love and miss you. Hey Chris I was thinking of you and your family. Thanks for encouraging me to pursue my goal to become a Trooper. I have been a Trooper now for a little over two years and I really enjoy the job just like you did. It seems like just yesterday I went on all of those great ride alongs with you. I'll never forget the times we had together when I was a DSP Explorer and a Cadet. I often think about the impact you had in my life and I am thankful for the opportunity I had to learn from you. Thanks for being a role model for me. You are missed by all but you will never be forgotten. Your DSP Brother Trooper 1/C Gregory G. Cartwright II Delaware State Police 2008-01-03
"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day To respond to calls unknown. He drives a marked patrol car. A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes To make it safe on the streets. But he usually has a second job 'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday 'Cause he works all year round. And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often, The one whos blood runs blue. He seldom ever gets a thanks, To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops 'Cause people just don't understand That underneath his badge and gun, He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow In this world of drugs and crime. And he gets so mad at the court system 'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work, He prays to God above. Please bring me home after my shift So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car, He's alone down this ole' highway. It's just a little traffic infraction. He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window, And his badge is shining bright. He asked the guy for a driver's license, When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark, Striking the officer in the chest. But the Department's budget didn't buy Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding. His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red. And briefly he thought of his loved ones 'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story Of how this officer had died. And some who listened cared less, But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform With his badge pinned on his chest. He even had his revolver, He died doing his best.

Chris the girls "sent" you balloons. Mackenzie sent a Spongebob one and wrote you a message on the back. Teagan's was a smily face. They both "know" you and love you very much. Mackenzie frequently says how much she misses you. We all miss you Chris. Each and everyday I pray that by the family loosing you it is a lesson to others.
We miss you, Deb Sister-in-law 2007-07-26
Cpl Shea, We only met briefly for one time but I'll never forget getting that phone call from my senior corporal the night you left us. Your brothers and sisters in the DSP are thinking of you, especially this week. Rest in peace. Cpl Surowiec Delaware State Police 2007-07-22
hey dude....shannon here again....i have been thinking about you alot this week...wednesday marked the three year mark since you were taken from the family and the kids....last night mom attended a DUI ceremony in your memory and then we both sat at the DUI checkpoint on the highway in your memory....i am so glad we were able to be there and show our love for you and the officers there....
the good news is...not too many people were caught last night....it is great to see that more people are becoming responsible and safe....hopefully others won't have to live through the devastation that we all did and still do....most people think you forget and move on....not true...we still live with everyday and will continue to do so forever...
ya know...one of the only things missing there last night was dad....you know he would have been right there with us...trying to protect others from feeling our ill fate...
well...i just wanted you to know that rob and i haven't forgot...we really miss you....rob hasn't had a pal quite like you...he really did love having you for a brother-in-law....
RIP Dude....til we all meet again....love ya... Shannon Fowler Sister-In-Law 2007-07-21
Three years have passed and I know that during that time not a day has passed that you were not in the thoughts of those that love you dearly. My family also lost our loved police officer to a drunk driver and people just don't understand the devastation this causes those left behind as this did not have to happen and could have been prevented. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and protect them from harm. Also, keep watch over those still out on patrol. You are a true hero and heroes never die. Bob Gordon Father of Michael P. Gordon, EOW: 8/8/04 2007-07-20

Thinking of you today Chris and as always your family. Susan, I only hope that the thought of how many people Chris touched, many like myself who did not even know him, and the kind of person and Trooper he was, will put a smile on your face today and make you realize that he is watching over all of us from above. TFFT! Cpl/1 Steven Rizzo Delaware State Police 2007-07-18
Susan, It's easy to see that God blessed you with a sweetheart and soulmate and a very special love. It makes me envious of the special bond you shared and how you completed one another. You are so honest with your true feelings and I'm sure that has helped you to grieve and hopefully, to heal in time. Jesus has big shoulders to cry on and He will carry you when you are too weak to walk. He has blessed you with friends who are experiencing the same roller coaster of emotions and has given you a law enforcement family who share the love and respect you had for your officer. You are doing a good job of keeping his memory alive and are modeling compassion and integrity for your children. May the Lord fill in the gaps and give you soft, gentle hugs when you need them most. You are doing a great job and I know Chris would be proud of you. With love from one coast of America to the other, Lynn Kole Washington State

May God continue to watch over you, and always keep you by his side. There is no way a simple "thank you" could ever describe the sacrifices that you and your family have given to us. I have often visited the names of the brave men and women of the Delaware State Police and the other 17,000 heroes at the Law Enforcement memorial in Washington DC. I salute you all and want to let you know that you never will be forgotten! Assistant Chief Bill Healy U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division 2007-07-12
