IT HAS BEEN 6 YEARS TODAY DREW THAT YOU WERE TAKEN AWAY FROM US ALL AT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE. THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY PEOPLE COME AND GO FROM THERE SINCE YOU WERE TAKEN FROM US, BUT NOBODY HAS BEEN ANYWHERE NEAR THE WAY YOU WERE. I DON'T THINK THERE WAS A TIME THAT YOU WERE EVER SEEN WITHOUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE. WE ARE STILL FIGHTING THE SAME OLD FIGHT THAT YOU WERE FIGHTING RIGHT UP TO THE MOMENT OF YOUR DEATH. WE ALL MISS YOU MAN R.I.P. Deputy A.S. Russell “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." John 15:12&13. Drew, you made an impact on my life more than I can explain; both in the way you lived your life and in your death. I remember the example you set at The Citadel and at the Sheriff's Office. You were such an honest, good man. You will never be forgotten. Have peace with the Lord and I look forward to our eventual meeting again in eternity. Friends in Greenville **** MERRY CHRISTMAS DREW **** R.I.P. D-38 Anonymous I remember seeing you at the SCCJ academy for the first time. You seemed surprised, and so was I! I think you even called me, "Sir!" It reminded me of school and when you would sneak into my room at 5:30 am to get the rifle for practice... it still cracks me up. You are missed brother, and a constant reminder of how hard I better be working. Anonymous Drew, no matter how many years pass you will always remain close to my heart. I wish that I could talk to you now, as I am about to know the life of a beat. I think of you often and wish you were here with all of us. All of the family grieves deeply. Mary Ann Mazur Drew where has the 4 years gone!
Miss you Drew!! I think about our years at The Citadel... wish u were here. nick bentz I was in the Academy with John. He was not in my squad, but I spoke to him often. He was quiet, polite, friendly, and a fellow believer. I had a bond with him from our first chat. He was one who would always smile, and I dno't think I ever heard him complain about our training conditions. I had just gotten back from serving in the Air Force after reserve call up following 9-11. I finished my FTO program finally and had just completed my first month on my own. I hear that a fellow offiecr had been killed in Greenville. We had quite a few from that area in my class, and sought out the newspaper to find out who it was. I was heart broken to find out it was John. What a terrible loss. I made a point to come to the funeral between two 8 hr midnight shifts, riding with another deputy so i could get some sleep. How sad the funeral was. It was my first police funeral... I suppose it wont be my last. You are missed, John. Deputy Heffner You were my son's best friend during the school years at RMA and the Citadel. I will always appreciate your friendship. Always remembering you. Ray Falk
