Officer Smith - You sacfrificed yourself to save two innocent lives. That says much about your character. I am proud to have lived in Monrovia, 7 years, prior to leaving CA for CO. May you rest in peace and patiently prepare the way for those who protect and serve.

My Uncle Scott died before I was born but I grew up hearing of his death and how heroic he was from his sister Ruth(my mother).
In the year 2000 the Monrovia Police Dept. very kindly held a memorial for my uncle and the other officer who died in the line of duty. This brought together the Smith Family and since that time we have been so much closer. I want to thank the Dept. and also the wonderful police chief at the time who I believe is now retired. Thanks to you all who worked to put on that memorial. I think I speak for the whole family when I say we are very grateful!

My deepest condolences to the Smith family and the officers and staff of the Monrovia Police Department over the tragic loss of Officer Scott V. Smith. Scott sacrificed his life to save two innocent children who darted out in front of him as he was driving his police motorcycle. By giving his life the two children were spared. Scott you are a true hero and even after all of these years you are not forgotten and will always be remembered. May our brother Scott rest in peace. Never forget the fallen hero!
