Forgive me for missing the anniversary of your E.O.W., but I felt as though I could not continue to read about so many tragedies. I now realize the visit each day to leave a word of encouragement and hope to the loved ones of others, helps me to remember that I am not alone with my pain and heartbreak. So may I say to your friends and loved ones that my thoughts and prayers are with them now and always. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol and may they know you will never be forgotten. James Sheppard Father of Sgt. Jason L. Sheppard EOW 12/7/06 2009-02-25
Scott..I remember when we first started FTO together and I held a bar-b-que at my house to celebrate. I will never forget how funny it was watching you drive around my back yard in my daughter's toy jeep. I will never forget the sound of your voice calling me "ARG". I'll never forget how proud your mom looked when she rode with you that night. Those are memories that I will cherish. I will never forget you! Rest in peace. 0453 Anonymous

Scott, We remembered you tonight on Scott Baird Blvd where you were tragically killed just eight years ago. Your mom is strong- She spoke at the candle vigil tonight and you would be so proud of her. She wears the same uniform now and I know you are watching over her. Keep looking over your mom and your family. You are sorely missed and we thank you for your sacrifice once again. We also thank your family for their sacrifice as well. Sgt Lisa Satcher Gainesville Police Dept 2009-02-13

Scott was a good friend from highschool. I only found out recently of his passing, and in searching for more info I discovered this page. I lost touch after highschool, but the few years I knew you, I knew you were destined for something wonderful. You were the kind of person we should all strive to be. Your humor and kindheartedness touched me very personally. I remember the artwork you would share with me. One of the pictures inspired me to write poetry about it. You were such a spirit lifting individual, but also showed your sensitive side as well. Even though we lost touch so many years ago, my heart broke to hear of your passing. To Scott's mom, your son was an angel here on earth, my prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Scott,
Once again I went out to the road named after you and left a wreath of flowers and lit a candle for you. I imagine your friends that worked with you will be out there again at 4:00 a.m. to honor you. We will gather at 7:00 p.m. to remember and honor you. I promise you Scott, as long as I live, you will always be remembered, you will never be forgotten. I cannot believe it has been seven years. Trust me the pain is as real as yesterday and probably always will be. I miss you so much...

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day To respond to calls unknown. He drives a marked patrol car. A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes To make it safe on the streets. But he usually has a second job 'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday 'Cause he works all year round. And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often, The one whos blood runs blue. He seldom ever gets a thanks, To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops 'Cause people just don't understand That underneath his badge and gun, He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow In this world of drugs and crime. And he gets so mad at the court system 'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work, He prays to God above. Please bring me home after my shift So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car, He's alone down this ole' highway. It's just a little traffic infraction. He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window, And his badge is shining bright. He asked the guy for a driver's license, When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark, Striking the officer in the chest. But the Department's budget didn't buy Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding. His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red. And briefly he thought of his loved ones 'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story Of how this officer had died. And some who listened cared less, But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform With his badge pinned on his chest. He even had his revolver, He died doing his best.

Well Scott the clock continues to click down here on earth. Your Mom is doing a great job as a PST and is taking another shot at being a POlice Officer. It will be great to see her in uniform this yearin Washington DC. I know that you are as proud of her as she is of you. Hope you are getting to spend plenty of time with Corey. It is good to know that I will have a couple of good FTO's when I get to heaven. We will continue to make you proud down here. Take care and watch over us down hear. 0028 GPD Officer

I logged onto ODMP and you were the featured officer so I thought I would come to your page and leave a reflection. I know the daily struggle your Mother faces as she starts each day. Her first thought as she awakes in the morning is of you and you are the last thought she has at night before she drifts off to sleep. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones. Come to them in their dreams in vivid color so they can feel your presence and know you are protecting them. You are a true hero and heroes never die. You have not been forgotten. Scott,
I just wanted to say we still remember you and we still miss you. You are our HERO! Scott Baird Boulevard is a constant memory every time I drive by there. I continue to lift your family up in my prayers-- because I know they miss you so very much. Your light still shines here! Cpl. L Satcher Gainesville Police Dept 2007-07-16
Scott,
I just returned from Washington today for National Police Week. I stil find it incredibly amazing the honor and respect that is bestowed to you and the other fallen officers. Every year at the candlelight it is confirmed that you will not be forgotten. And that is the most important message I can receive. Although I do my best here to keep your memory alive, we need the local and national memorials to do it for you and the others. Even though this is my fifth time going to Washington, I can still vividly remember the first year. I feel the pain every year for those first year survivors. But as I told someone there the other day, I go on because I know you walk beside me. I could not go on if you were not with me. I miss you every day Scott and love you even more. I'll see you in my dreams.
Love, Mom Mom

One thing I do know, you are Kelly's son, you are Buddy and Krista's brother. Most of all you are a HERO. Scott, We love and miss you every second of the day. Keep watching over us and protecting your Brothers and Sisters in BLUE...See how big Julieann and Logan have gotten!!! LOVE YOU ALWAYS Christina Christina Baird Sister-n- law 2007-04-11
