Your heroism and service is honored today, the tenth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

10 years. Anyways, I'm still running and getting into triathlons. Not so sure you'd enjoy a triathlon, but I know you'd be all in for the run. One day perhaps we'll meet up again. One day....... get your butt in shape for that day!

Jim Bob, I miss the days when we were both young when you were living in Globe. I am so proud of you for who you were then and who you became. You were always someone I looked up to. Recently, I started collecting patches again and came across my chandler patch with your memorial pin on it. Then came across your pin a couple days later on my old MA uniform. Without getting into a long story, you just helped me through a vary trying time. I know your watching over all of us - and are here with us when we need the inspiration or motivation. "The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

me again. in January I went to the NLEOM and saw your name there. The memorial is in kind of a weird place, but it was stil nice. I still remember Jim, and I think I always will.

Well.....here we are again on a day of reflection. I know you wouldn't want me to be sad, but I can't help but be sad because of who you were and how you lived your life. Enough of that....I wish I could turn the clock back and go on one more early morning or late afternoon run with you up that damned hill at ALETA. Jim,
The smoke has cleared, but your name and the memory of all you did lives on. I clearly remember your smiling face at every early morning warrant. I remember teasing you about that bright red white and blue flag that you wore on your tac vest. "When I come through the door, I want them to know I'm an American first, then know I'm a cop" you always said. Although not as brightly colored, I now wear an American flag upon my vest, proudly displaying the badge number of my fallen comrade. Jim, I think of you often and as I come to the close of my career I reflect upon those who made a difference. You certainly did and we all felt the rumble of the heavens the day you left us.
