I am researching my father & grandfather through the police department records. My father was the other officer with Mr. Barlow that New Year's Eve. He was also struck, but not killed. I was not even born when this happened, but have newspaper clippings from the tragedy. It is a sad day to lose one so special. My dad passed in 1965 and my grandfather in 1933. Grandfather was a captain. My prayers are always with the officers who put their lives on the line for us everyday. Claudia Leverton YOU ARE REMEMBERED TODAY AND THANK YOU SIR FOR YOUR SERVICE VANDENBERGHE On the 70th anniversary of your E.O.W. I read Retired Officer Neumeister's reflection. What else could I say except: Bravo Zulu! (Navy talk for "Well Done") John M. Mumper I grew up on the stories of his service. He was my inspiration.Little did he know when he came from Ireland to this country at age 18 he would start a tradition of law enforcement service. Off. George E. Neumeister Jr. We ask Thy blessings and eternal rest to all our brothers and sisters Ret. Officer William Hackley I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).
