To Eric, Diana & Andy...

Eric you will always be remembered as a hero to all those who lived in SF Area. Your killers should have gotten the death penalty. To Diana and Andy, I'm so sorry for your loss and can only imagine how painful losing Eric was. Andy, always keep your father's spirit alive in your heart.

I can not believe your killers only recieved 8-10 years. My father was a Chicago Police Officer killed in the line of duty on June 19,1970. His killer was given 30-125yrs. He will be released. I do not understand how our justice system can ever release these savages back out into our communities. My God bless you and your family.

Eric, I think about you a lot. We sure had fun at Douglass park and all over the neighbor hood before they built it up so much. What a great place to grow up. You should have taken the Fire Department job. Roger

I read about you, Eric, during research of the Zodiac case. You are a true American hero, and your family should be proud. Your killers should have gotten life in prison.

I ran across you early in my reaserch on the Zodiac killer.Officer Zelms you are one of the few who encountered the Zodiac killer 10/11/69,but you were not harmed.
It took two cowards to kill you as you were defending the public.I can't believe those criminals only got a light sentence!
You are great and God bless your memory.

Officer Eric died a hero in our family. His only son Andy, who was 11 months old when he died, is now 36. Andy had to grow up without a father but my Sister Diana raised him with the memory of Eric's heroic efforts as a police officer, husband, and father. Andy has to live his whole life without his father, the killers should have received life.

Officer Zelms,
On this, the 35th anniversary of your death, I would like to say thank you for your service to the citizens of San Francisco. What I can't fathom is how a jury could only convict the two cowards who murdered you to nothing more than an 8-10 year sentence when they should have gotten at a minimum life.
