You will always remain an honorable man, a beautiful person taken from your family far too young by scum. It pains me to see them glorified. You own a piece of all our hearts. I am sure that time has not erased your memory in the hearts of those who love you.

Patrolman Wheeler,
The scene of your murder is shown in the Bonnie and Clyde movie and it sickens me everytime I see it. Two officers offering assistance just to be "gunned down" by two pieces of scum!
R.I.P. Sir.

Jefferson County Tn. Sheriff's Office

April 1, 1934.....72 years ago today. We will never forget.

Patrolman Doug Hutchison
Irving Police Department, Texas, (Retired)

R.I.P Patrolman Wheeler. It is a shame that Bonnie and Clyde(and the whole Barrow gang) are often mythologically viewed as a "Robin Hood/romantic" type entity. They should always be seen as what they were: cold blooded killers who took the lives of good peoplew such as yourself. Again...R.I.P.

I never knew you,you passed 22 years before I was born. but came to find out that you were my GrandFather James Robert Wheeler's first cousin. He never mentioned painful things of days past. However, I know now that he honored you in the way he lived his life and the way he loved his family. I am truly proud to be a member of the Department which you so honorably served

No justice in this world! Bonnie and Clyde were "immortalized" by Hollywood, this brave lad forgotten.
As you now know, Jesus Loves You, so do we!
