I was on patrol duty from the Detroit Post, 30 miles from the Brighton Post, the day your watch ended. I had 3 years on the job then and although its been 46 years ago I rember vividly the anguish the events of the day brought to all of us troopers and our search efforts. I think of you and all our fallen comrades often. You will live in my memory forever. God Bless you.

Each day I try to read the ODMP. Today I read your story. Any officer who dies in the line of duty will always be remembered for his sacrifice. You died a hero. Rest in peace Trooper Souden.

I just wanted to say thank you Albert for giving your life to this job. You are very much a hero to me. I read your story so long ago, and ever since I have not forgotten what you went through. I was recently in Washington D.C. and I went to find your name. I said a prayer for you and your family and thanked you for your service. You are always in my thoughts as I pursue a future in law enforcement. Thank you for teaching us to be safe. God Bless you Albert.

I drove through Argentine the other day. It is a beautiful small town. All of us that love police officers, agents, sheriff's and troops will never forget this heroic sacrifice.

Perhaps the state should erect a historic marker of the site where this tragedy occured. That way it would be a constant reminder to all citizens of the bravery of this trooper.

I did not know you, except in what we learned as cubs about you at the Brighton Post. At this time you are the only trooper to have thier life taken in the line of duty from the Brighton Post. A terrible loss for all.

We who have served at Brighton have not forgotten you. We patrol the same beat you did and know well the area where you lived with your wife. Your picture and memorial has a place of honor within our post lobby. We answer questions about you by inquiring citizens who see the memorial. Your scarafice will not be forgotten.

Rest well in God's peace and continue to watch over your brothers and sisters in arms.

Sgt Therese Fogarty-Cremonte
MSP Brighton Post

I agree with a previous writer who wrote “No officer’s death should be without reflection.” May the memory of your service, heroism and sacrifice remain forever. You served us well......RIP brother.
