787-
It's difficult to believe that a score has passed since that awful day in Greenwich. I never had the chance to thank you for protecting me that day but I have lived with your memory since. While I do truly wish that I could have helped you I know that's not the way it was. I used to question why I was there but now I know that I am both proud and grateful to have been with you and to have known you as a Trooper and a friend. Thank you Jorge and know that I will never forget. - #741

Hey Brutha man.... it is coming up on 20 years..I don't know where the time goes but it sure flys by. There is not a day I don't do this job the best I can do and not think of you. I know your guiding me and watching over me.
This seems to get harder to tell you things as life goes on...kinda don't know what to say?
All I do know is I miss you big bro.
But I know you got my back.
Listen for my words in prayer and keep an eye out for all of your brothers and sisters in the uniform.
Luv ya and miss you tremendously Jorge.
Your lil' bro,
J.D.Kasper

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Jorge and I were best friends in High School. We lost touch a few years after we graduated. I found out about his passing back around 1998 while trying to contact friends from high school by searching the internet. It was a shock. You always think about someday meeting up and talking about old times. If you have an old friend you haven't heard from... take my advice, pick up the phone and call them NOW! You never know.
To a best friend Trooper Jorge A. Agosto that I will never see again. Always remember the night in NYC and Roseland. Fun times for two kids just out of High School taking on the Big Apple.

Hey my brother its been 16 years in a couple of days when the Watch commander called to serve his hiways in Heaven. You were agreat influence to me becoming who I am in the world today. To people who didn't know him you missed out on the greatest of Marines,Troopers, and human beings...I remember when you were accepted by CSP, best day in your life, and I was very proud. We all accept the risk of Police work and work as if things like this don't happen. But they do and I miss you. I have become part of the Law Enforcement family and have been for years now, for which I'm grateful to you for helping me get there. Both Military and Police.
There isn't a day that goes by that your not in my heart. I know you're up there watching over us all.
I miss you very much big brother, but if I know you ........you're working overtime!
All units....All units.... this is an End Of Watch Notification....R.I.P.
Love your little bro!!!

To the loved ones, friends, and co-workers of Trooper Agosto, I offer my heartfelt condolences on this sad anniversary. I did not know your officer, but I know that he did not lose his life-he gave it in service. May the memories you have of him in happier times help to ease the sorrow of his leaving.
To lose a loved one on a holiday of Thanksgiving must be bitter indeed. I only hope that you can still be thankful for the time you had together.
There's no way of knowing how many days any of us are allotted, and no way of knowing just how many lives your officer touched and made better in the time he was here on earth.
Know that your Trooper is in a safe place now, and surely he watches over you still.
