Will-

I was raised in the East Chicago area and grew up hearing the stories about the fateful day at the First National. Its truly disturbing that Hollywood has recently idolized him as a "Robin Hood" type person. They however fail to mention the people he and his gang had murdered, threatened, terrified, stole from, and assaulted, among other things. I am posting this to honor your sacrifice and to let you know that your brothers of the Badge know what kind of hero you are and the lives you saved that day. Please keep an eye on us down here from above!

Officer O'Malley passed a warning to the occupants of my father's drug store just before the beginning of the firefight with the Dillinger gang. The windows of the store were shot out in the brief encounter. Officer O"Malley quite possibility saved several lives that day.

Patrolman O'Malley, I just recently watched a program about John Dillinger and your murder was extensively mentioned. You tried to catch that miserable S.O.B. and lost your life in the process. Who knows how many lives might have been spared if you had been successful. What you did succeed in was becoming a hero for trying. You didn't truly have a chance, but you made the supreme effort and for that, we should all be grateful.

I'm glad to know that Dillinger didn't last all that much longer.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
