Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.
God Bless

Dr. Neslon, just wanted to say that I appreciate your families ultimate sacrifice. I will be reading your grandfathers name at the California Highway Patrol Academy on May 5, 2015 as we remember all of those that have laid down their lives in the line of duty. Once again thank you and God bless, and know that your grandfather will always be remembered.

As a consequence of a drunk driver, I never met my paternal grandfather. Instead, he was killed in the line of duty about 14 years before I was born. My father, 9 years old at the time, was traumatized by his father's death, which contributed to my father's death in 1986 at the age of 57. I have visited memorials listing the name of Officer Leonard Nelson in Sacramento, California and in Washington, DC.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the seventy-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
