Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Patrolman Paul David Murphy

Patrolman Murphy, it has been 69 years since you were taken from us. New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your 2 years of law enforcement service.

It's winter and though this winter has, so far, been mild and snow free, we still have February to get through and even March. Each and every time any of us step out on an icy night we run the risk of injury or, as shown by your sacrifice, potential death. This may be true for everyone in a cold climate, but we don't always have the luxury of being able to inch along on the ice. We may be forced to jump and move as quickly as we can to help someone in need or attempt to catch a bad guy.

No matter the reason for you slipping, you were at a greater risk than the average joe citizen. You made a sacrifice 52 years ago today. I thank you for your service and God Bless you, Brother.

On this 51st anniversary of your tragic death, I can only say that the way you died was horrid. Ice causes many injuries and plenty of deaths. How sad that it took your life.

I cannot stress enough, God Bless and may your eternal rest be ever at peace, Brother.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 47th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect, and your memory will always be honored and revered. .

Rest In Peace
