I wonder who the constable was who arrested the man. My granddad was a constable in Cowen in those days. Thank you Deputy Morton for you service. RIP My family is also related to the Mortons.

John Dennis Morton was my great grandfather; my grandmother was his
daughter Ufa. My mother is Marilyn Kyer McCall. I found this sight just now as i was searching for information about him; I am profoundly moved that he is still remembered ninety years later. I never got it fully, his death, how he died until just now! he died in service to his town, county and state! I am crying as I now fully understand the impact of not only his death but his life on my grandmother, mother and now me.
I may not be correct with this story but what i was told is he was friends
with the man who shot him and it was an accident.
32 years old, so very very young. Thank you for keeping his memory alive, I am deeply grateful and love the picture of my great grandfather.
I will visit this sight often to remember him and so many others who have given the ultimate sacrifice. i will remember........
