Rest in peace Patrolman Morrissey

Thank you for remembering Phillip Morrissey, my grandfather. He was a hero during WW1 and received a citation for bravery. Phillip was killed by a truck driver who told people in a bar that he was going to run down the first policeman he saw. The truck driver did what he said and killed my grandfather while he was directing traffic. Even then, there were people who hated police. A police man is brave just putting on his uniform, let alone risking his life for other people. Phillip was 29 years old and left a wife and a two year old daughter. This was during the depression so it was very difficult. My mother always missed having her father even when she was in her nineties. Many of you have lost a loved one on the Police Force and you know they are always in your heart. I remember the day my mom and I went to the Police Memorial to see my grandfather's picture and listen to the speeches when the Memorial opened. The survivors are heroes too. They do their best to make their heroes proud. God bless you and yours. May God help and protect you! I was named in honor of Phillip.
