On today, the 40th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Arkansas. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer.

That was such a tragedy and a day I will never, ever forget. I remember it as if it happened yesterday and it makes me ever so sad. Ronald Opie was such a special man and certainly left a great legacy not only at the ADC but his legacy lives on in his fine sons.

I am so thankful for all of the good memories I have of our times together.

Your heroism and service is honored today on the 39thanniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace.
