Reflections for Officer Raymond J. McMaster

Officer McMaster was the half-brother of Donald and Terry McMaster, sons of Raymond H McMaster's second marriage. He was called Junny for Junior within the family. He was 18 years older than me and that plus difficulties within the family kept us from ever knowing him well. I remember our father was devastated by his death. Junny's only child was a girl named Monica who went into law enforcement in Florida because of the example of her father. She tragically died on the operating table stemming from back injuries suffered as part of her job.

My Father, Officer Howard L. Grothjan, was Officer McMaster's partner during the incident. Ray was a hero in the true sense of the word. His passing profoundly affected my dad for the rest of his life. He will always be remembered as an embodiment of dedication and service.

Officer McMaster - Thanks for your service to both the people of Boulder and the State of Colorado. I stood in the State Assembly chambers, last Friday, when your name was read off during a resolution regarding the upcoming Peace Officer's memorial week. You are not forgotten.
