Your heroism and service is honored today, the 44th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. I thank your family and friends for sharing their memories and devotion to you through their reflections.
Rest In Peace

It's been 40 long years, seems like forever that you've been gone, Mike was just 10 ten years old. Your sons and wife miss you very much and speak about you often with pride. You would be very proud of all your sons and their families.
Thank you for your unselfishness and courage that spring day in 1968. And thank you to all men and women in service jobs who are every day heroes! May God protect you.
Dave, though we didn't meet on earth I look forward to our meeting in heaven....
Much love,
Laura

It has been 40 years ago that grandpa has lost his life today. Although I have never had the chance to meet my grandfather, I am truly honored to say I am his granddaughter.
I will gladly share the story about how big of a hero Grandpa David was in a local community to his Great Grandchildren. I wish he was here to share stories with us and others, but all we have is a memory.
In honor of Grandpa we have a rock located in a local park. His Great Grandchildren will go there and play in his memory frequently. So even though Grandpa is not here in person he is in our hearts and we thank him for his brave duty as a police office and thank him for making a difference in life!!
Thanks Grandpa!!

I never had the honor to meet you, but I would like you to know the stories of your life live on and are being told to your grandchildren and great-children. Not just the stories of your heroism and bravery but also the stories of your love of the outdoors and the devotion to your family and the community. Thank you.

I grew up hearing my grandmother tell me the story of a hero who died trying to save my mother's cousin in the river. It was you. I know it may not mean much but his family tells stories of the hero who gave his life trying to save keith's. God Bless you and your loved ones.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003). Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend. Deputy Jeffrey Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.
We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.
Patrolman McKee, you are remembered on this date of your death. You will always be remembered.
You gave your life trying to save another. You are a true hero.
These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

THE POLICEMAN'S LAST ROLL CALL ...
THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE
HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD
NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER
CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"
THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a Saint. I've had to
work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been
violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that
wasn't mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just
got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with
fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept many unmanly tears. I know I
don't deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around
except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me Lord, it needn't be so
grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As
the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward
now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's
streets, you've done your time in hell."
