Reflections for Patrolman Robert Carl May

Patrolman May,
On today, the 75th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the USMC in the Pacific fighting the Japanese during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I came across this memorial for my uncle, Robert May, here today. I remember my father mentioning him a few times during my childhood. It was somber to read some of these memories here. I know my father missed his brother. I printed out this photograph and placed it up in my office here at the San Francisco Police Department.

I'M the grandson of his brother Donald May. I grew up hearing alot of stories about my great uncle. Wish I could've met him. I know he was very loved. Mom said her Grandpa never really got over his death. I always thought of him as a hero. I'm proud to be his relative. R.I.P

I pray every day for our Men in Blue....I was not born when my Uncle Bob was killed. But our family lived with the loss...My Grandmother and Grandfather, Mother, Aunt and Uncle. His son Tommy spent countless hours with us...We all still feel the loss...as does every officers family.

Robert Carl May was my half brothers dad. He never knew
his dad he was only a year old when this happened.
My brother Tommy May is now passed but I still have all of
the newspaper clippings that were in the paper at the time
of this shooting that took place.
I'm honored to see that you still have his picture and a clipping
of him on your website. Thanks Bridget O'Bannion
