To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 77th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Chief Deputy Mankin,
On today, th 71st anniversary of your murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Vigo County. It took another two years, but one of your murderers finally got the justice that he deserved.

I take great pride in honoring you and your memory; not only as an excellent lawman but also as a good father. Your son, Jack, who became an outstanding officer of the Court of the State of IN, became my step-father in 1969. I then became Chief Deputy, badge #81-2 in 1978, serving with the Union Co.,IN Dept. Thank you sir, the name Mankin has served the state on IN. with honor for a large part of the 20th Century.
