Reflections for Police Officer Raymond Lovett

Jill and Mike
You would have loved your grandfather. He was a great guy! He was my uncle. He was my mothers brother. They were very close! I was only 10 when we lost your grandfather. Unfortunately somehow families grow apart. I would have also loved to have known you!

Always in my thoughts,

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 46th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace

Thank you all for your kind words. I never had the chance to meet my grandfather, but think of him often and I am grateful to him for the example he set for my father.

For Police Officer Raymond Lovett:

Our duty as law officers is beset with risk. Equally, our health is threatened by all the uncertainties existent for humans in general. Whether the law officer dies in a hail of fire or simply encounters a heart attack does not make him less of a hero. No measuring device exists that separates one hero from another. Duty, dedication and service to the public is not accumulated, nor stored, nor displayed as proof of honor - rather it is found in the heart that might fail - but still lives on in others.

We pray for Ray's family, friends, co-workers and all who cared about him, hoping that all that he was still lives in their hearts.

I am proud to render Officer Ray Lovett a final salute.
