Deputy Sheriff Larson,
On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a LEO but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Naval Construction Battalions. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

The Ventura County Jail Todd Road has a therapy-dog program and chooses select inmates to train puppies. These puppies are named after fallen Ventura County officers. I am very proud to say that I have met the cutest most adorable half maltese, half lhasa apso named for Deputy Sheriff Chester Larson, and they call him Larson. Larson is a lover, he licks your face, and cheers you up, and the male inmates are the ones tasked with taking care of him. The female inmates have other black poodle puppy dogs....but Larson, well he was special. I came home and immediately HAD to Google and find out who Larson's namesake was. Deputy Sheriff Chester Larson died being a true hero.

Chet , it has been a long time since the tragedy Of your death. As a resident deputy in Frazier Park , you always showed up when I was in a bad situation with multiple suspects . Your presents was sorely missed by all the brother peace officers in our area. Your name came up often in our conversation ( cop stories) everyone of us had a Chet story. Thanks for you service .

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 43rd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace in such incidents & our only real comfort comes from Him. May His strength, comfort & peace continue to be the sustaining force in the lives of all who knew this beloved officer; and may it somehow help to know that, even after all these years, they do not grieve alone.
