This day is upon us again. The years are irrelevant. I would love to say time has healed the pain. The truth is, time does not heal this pain, time is what it takes to learn how to live with it, to carry on with it, to make it bearable. It's like a piece of me is missing. Though my heart aches for you, I've gone on and I'm happy again. Life is good. I work hard to honor you everyday. I also honor you with my work with COPS. This isn't the path I would have chosen, but since it is my path I hope you are proud of me. I know you are proud of your kids. They are awesome!!! I love you and miss you every single day!!! Dear Liz,

I'm sorry it's taken me this long to reply to your Post. I remember many things about you since that tragic day. How we met at the Norcal COPS Chapter meetings. How you seemed to have a smile whenever we needed one. How you started over again with the help of some guy named Randy. How you came up to me and hugged me at the Candlelight Vigil before the Annual Memorial one year. I asked you if you were a little better. You nodded yes.

How we stumbled into each other years later at the Dinner before another Candlelight Vigil. We simultaneously picked our two cups of Punch, looked at each other, screamed out in joy and hugged. I don't think we could've been more shocked to see each other.

Like many people, I have no words of my own to convey that sense of Grief, Sorrow and the ache in our Heart that comes with this. So I'll use the words of another American who paid the Ultimate Price for that word we often times use a bit to casually, Freedom. I hope it's enough for all of you. Take care.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln

Mark, after all these years, you re not forgotten my friend. You were a friend to all your Academy mates while at the Butte. You were on my basketball team as we battled the Stockton Boys in some fierce games. I will always remember you as a faithful friend. I pray you were there to greet my Daughter Natalie Corona who was also killed in the line of duty in 2019. May you both Rest In Peace and May God grant you eternal life in heaven.

On this 24th anniversary of your EOW, you'd think it would get easier... It doesn't!!!!! You left this world a lifetime ago, yet the pain feels like yesterday. Our children are all grown up, our son is 28, he's an awesome man that you would be so proud of. Our daughter, if only you could have met her, held her. She's 23 now, a grown woman. She finished her Masters in Criminal Justice, kinda funny how she's the one to follow in your footsteps. I know you'd be so proud of her too. God, how I miss you!!!! Until we meet again, rest easy my love!!! And please, continue to watch over the kids and me!!! I LOVE YOU!!! Forever #71

20 years ago you were taken from us. This year was especially hard, so many more emotions were stirred up. I will continue to fight for you, your memory and your/our justice until the day I die.

I think about you every single day, sometimes with a smile and other times it's with a heavy heart because it's just one more thing you have missed. I know you're up there looking down, watching our kids become two amazing adults.

Please continue to be our Guarding Angel, watch over the kids and please continue to be Randy's silent partner and keep him safe out there. I believe you brought him into my life, because he truly is my rock!!

I love you... I miss you...

Your Wife,
Liz

Officer White, your memory lives on. I am lucky enough to be personal friends with you wife and children. They are great. You are an every day part of their life, and I can assure you that your daughter is your spitting image. What a tragedy your death was, but your family is healthy and happy. Randy is doing a great job with them and loves all of them so much. They are in good hands. Rest in peace sir.

You came into Central Stores the week before to get some notebooks and pens; you were going to walk the creek. I remember laughing my rear off over the conversation. I also remember the funeral. I will never forget it. Doesn't seem like it was 20 years ago. I am so sorry. I know that you are still here and observing your friends and family. I also know that you are there to help other officers cross over. Thank you Mark for your service then and now.

You have not been forgotten.

Some of your friends, neighbors, and fellow Peace Officers gathered this weekend (for some "choir practice") and we reminisced about you. You are missed by all who knew you. Rest in peace.

Cannot believe it has been almost 20 years; yet the memory of Mark is just as real and vivid as the last time we saw you. You made us laugh Mark and then we cried...but in light of all the hostility today with protests against police, we would like all officers to know that we stand firmly behind you and know the sacrifice you make every day you put on the uniform. And Mark, you could receive no higher honor than this; one who is willing to lay down his life for others. It may be 20 years, but for us, it's as if we just had a conversation yesterday. You had a larger than life personality and you and Liz always made us laugh..thanks for the forever memories!! We think of you often. And to Liz, Matt and Whitney, he may be gone physically but never ever forgotten! What a great legacy he has left for you. Until we meet again, Curt and Terri Waters, Brianna, Amy, Ashley and Lyric. In our prayers always.....

Another year has gone by without you.

19 years since you left us. I still get that heavy dreadful feeling this time of year especially on the 10th. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you.

Our kids are all grown up, you've missed so much... Though I know in my heart you watch over us. If only I could talk to you JUST one more time.

Please continue to watch over Matthew, he has grown into such a wonderful young man and Whitney, especially with her so far away. Can you believe? Our daughter going to college on the East Coast. I know you would be so proud of them both.

Until we reunite again.... My Highschool Sweetheart, My First Love, My Husband, My Best Friend, I love you and miss you so much.

I read these reflections, Officer White and they are all very tragic, how an officer can be shot by accident by one of their own why doing their job even in street clothes. Police officers from the same department should recognize their own, I guess the stress and in the heat of the battle these brave men and women still perform a profession in which the utmost care should be exercised. Rest in peace, your courage won't be forgotten. One officer even asked his colleague to shoot him so he could feel what it was like. He died from a gunshot to the back, his friend thought he had a blank in his weapon. Very tragic!

Mark, It has been 21 years since you started with the Roseville Police Department. You were a new officer and I was a newly promoted sergeant. I would give anything to have one last graveyard meal at Carrows with you and Bruce Brzyscz. You were only with us a short time but I will never forget you. Your smile will forever be imprinted on my mind.

Like Danny said, you are not forgotten. I speak of you when my kids ask about police officers. My kids are pretty young because I started later than you. I tell them of a good friend who was an officer that was killed by a mad man as he tried to protect those around him. I found this site and I can see the love Liz has. I moved out of state in '93 and I still remember the call my parents made to me with the news. I was in school and could not make it down for the service but I thought about the good times at T.B and in high school and you helping me move to Chico with your black truck and many others. God bless you, Liz and your children
