Your heroism and service is honored today, the 40th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for the solace of those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace.

For fellow historians: Out of the tragedy of the Glenville Riots, Cleveland street officers were issued portable radios which enabled citywide communications. Also, the fist Tactical Unit was formed, which trained and equipped specific officers to respond to especially dangerous situations such as riots and barricaded suspects. The unit later became the modern day Special Weapons and Tactics Unit, or SWAT.

To the fallen officers - may Your Souls Rest-In-Peace.......

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Tonight, July 23, 2004 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Patroman Louis Golonka, Patrolman Willard J. Wolff, and Lieutenant Leroy Jones who died in the line of duty on this date thirty six years ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
