To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 85th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Phyllis Lasater Loya
mom of fallen Pittsburg (CA) officer Larry Lasater

Special Agent Johnson, we can only hope that the tragic events of that day brought about a wake up call to all agencies about the need for communication and cooperation. Sadly, we know that mistakes are still made and probably always will be. When a job has to get done, sometimes its costly and human error can come into play. Everyone did their job that day but a life was lost needlessly.

On this 80th anniversary of that sad day, I can only hope that the Sheriff could put his error behind him and carry on. I pray especially that your family took solace in knowing you were doing an important job and that, no matter what, you would never truly leave them. May all officers who read of that event stop and remember, “There but for the Grace of God, go I.”

God Bless you and thanks for your efforts. May you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
