Reflections for Correctional Officer Vern M. Jarvis

Officer Jarvis,
On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but also when you served with the U.S. Army-especially during WW II and the Korean War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 43rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, and your memory will always be honored and revered.

How demoralizing for the correcional officers in your state to be confronted with the realization that a murderer of a correctional officer can be paroled after only thirteen years. Disgraceful.

Rest In Peace

13 years? Just 13 years after your murder and the man walks free? As a CO, I see inmates get so little time for the crimes they commit, but this is horribly sad. Thank you for you service. You are not forgotten. Please watch over the rest of us from your post in heaven.
